Aláàṣẹ: Messages from the Conjure

Exhibit Summary:

Aláàṣẹ [Ah lah SHEH] is Yoruba (West Afrikan) for one who possesses performative power, primordial force, and the ability to create change. Neither Ŏrisá (deities) nor Ajagun (warriors), the Aláàṣẹ are those who can manifest energy and power with and without their knowledge. The Aláàṣẹ are neither wholly good nor wicked; they are those who make things happen, sometimes without intent, but always with profound effect – they serve and conjure Divine Justice.
