Reinvented: Illustrative Explorations


Exhibition Summary:

Emerging Black Male Artists examine the political infrastructures of communal narratives in their mixed media works on paper, wood, and canvas. This exhibition was hosted in conjunction with East Austin StudioTours.

Brent Pheto

A multi-medium artist that constructs earthly alternative worlds filled with symbolic creatures that are based on social issues.

Brent uses the influences of human ideas, interactions, and the impact of communications on people; both individually and collectively in particular media outlets, peer pressure, and internal conflicts to create his characters and made worlds that challenge preconceived notions and perspectives.

Lakeem Wilson

Originally from Dallas, TX, and founder of Natural Born Studios. Wilson is a creator that embeds the wisdom gained by his life experiences in unique ways into his paintings, illustrations, and drawings.

His creative voice allows him to bring a sense of equilibrium to activism and cultural empowerment evoking change through his art.
